PLYBAM™
BAMBOO PLYWOOD

A Greenmaker Industries exclusive, Plybam is a solid, designer-quality plywood made from the highest quality Moso bamboo. A rapidly-renewable resource, bamboo is a type of grass that can be harvested every 5 to 6 years. Harvesting Moso bamboo does not damage the soil, and it takes place in areas that are not near panda bear habitat. Plybam’s unique layered construction and beauttiful end grain offer designers an excellent alternative to more expensive solid wood construction, and to more informal composite boards and plywood.

WHY USE PLYBAM?

Bamboo is naturally stronger and more dimensionally stable than wood, making it perfect for use in countertops, shelving, cabinetry, and cutting boards in residential and commercial applications. Bamboo (natural) is rated 1380 on the Janka Hardness scale, making it harder than Red Oak (1290) and White Oak (1360), so it will resist dents and dings from normal use. Plybam looks and feels unlike any other wood; however it can be sawn, sanded, stained and routed just like standard plywood. It is laminated into a three-ply board using low-emitting adhesives, and comes unfinished.

STYLES:

Vertical grain: Natural (blond) and Carbonized (amber)
Horizontal grain:
Carbonized (amber)
Strand woven:
Natural (blond), Carbonized (amber), and Tiger (a mixture of blond and amber)

Strand-woven best approximates the look of wood, and it is also the “greenest” of the three styles because small scrap pieces of bamboo are incorporated into the strands; there is almost no waste.
